Iria Prieto’s work explores the journey of introspection and vital force. Her paintings emote the lyric dance between the physical and non physical realms. The artist’s goal is to achieve a composition that allows time and intuition to dictate the pace to carry out a finished piece.

 

Puerto Rican artist Iria Prieto was born in Madrid, Spain and grew up in her mother's native Cayey Puerto Rico. From an early age Iria had a deep connection with the visual arts, especially painting. Coming from a family of artists, she has always been exposed to a wide array of art forms including: music, literature, photography, ballet and filmmaking which inform her current body of work. 

 

She holds a BFA in painting from Maryland Institute College of Art. As well as studies at Parsons New School for Design in Paris, Studio Art International Center in Florence and EICAR International Film and Television School in Paris. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Barcelona, Florence, Paris and San Juan among others.

 

Iria Prieto's studio is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
